Urban exploration photography (often shortened as urbex or UE) is the exploration of man-made structures, usually abandoned ruins or not usually seen components of the man-made environment and taking photos as you go.
Alan Duggan
Alan Duggans journey started when he visited an abandoned asylum that was about to be demolished. He wanted to document the asylum before it was gone forever, so he decided to document in photographs. After visiting the asylum he decided to go to many other abandoned locations not just in the UK but also in France, Belgium and Luxembourg. His photo shoots are grouped into different reports from each different country he went to.

High Dynamic Range photography (HDR photography)
An HDR image is commonly made by taking three or more photos of the same scene, each at different shutter speeds. The result is a bright, medium, and darkphoto, based on the amount of light that got through the lens. A software process then combines all the photos to bring details to the shadows and highlights both.
First urban exploration photo shoot using HDR
This is my first urban exploration photo shoot attempt using High Dynamic Range. I used the HDR setting on my phones camera to create the image.
experimenting with hdr photography
Original photos before photoshop.
To create these two photos i first had to take three photos of the same object at different shitter speeds one over exposed one one under exposed and one with a normal exposure. i then put them onto photoshop and put them into the HDR merging tool on photoshop.
WWW: They show both dark and light tones. EBI: To improve i will have to keep the camera more steady as the pictures did not fully line up and where a bit blurry. To improve this i will use a tri pod

Content. The sub theme I have chosen is HDR photography I intend to investigate different types of abandoned and derelict things further to help pin-point my idea I will begin first looking at abandoned houses and vehicles. Context The context of my work is based on firstly the photographer Alan Duggen I was influenced by the context of his photos, the abandoned buildings and the process in which he uses to create the photographs which is High dynamic range (HDR photography) My ideas were inspired by the exploration of derelict buildings. Form The main formal elements I am in interesting in exploring further are is texture and the space in which it was taken I have been inspired to use these elements because the Hdr process changes the texure of the photograph. i also like the cluttered spaces in which these photographs are taken Mood: I want to create a old and derelict atmosphere. I intend to do this by taken pictures in abandoned and old places I want to do this because because Alan Duggan does this in his work Process The process i am using is HDR. You create a HDR photograph by firstly taking three photos at different exposures, one light one normal and one dark. You then merge them together to create a photograph with a high dynamic range.
Large scale HDR photography with DSLR camera
shoot 1
WWW: I have created a succsesfull HDR photograph using three images in photoshop EBI: to improve i need to use a more intresting three photos and link it further to urban exploration
Shoot 2
WWW: I have created a successful HDR photograph using three images in Photoshop EBI: To improve I need to link the HDR photos directly with abandoned property or cars.
HDR photographs taken with my DSLR camera, linking HDR with urban exploration.
These photos where taken in an abandoned military hospital on the island of Rhodes, Greece.
Best examples of my Hdr photography.
Final piece
Final Evaluation
My final piece is a picture of an abandoned truck. I have taken the photo using a dslr camera. i took three separate photos one over exposed one under exposed and one with a normal exposure, i then merged them together on Photoshop to create a HDR photograph. WWW:The photo is HDR and of an abandoned truck so therefore has links to Alan Duggans work EBI: To improve i should make the photograph less exposed as it is over exposed. i would do this by bringing down the exposure of the over exposed image.
